UFC Fight Night expert picks: Some (but only some) see this as Geoff Neal’s time to emerge

The final UFC event of 2020, on Saturday in Las Vegas, will see a two-time welterweight title challenger in Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson square off against a rising contender in Geoff Neal.

Thompson (15-4-1) has not yet fought in 2020 but is coming off a decision win against another up-and-comer, Vicente Luque, in November 2019. Neal (13-2) was supposed to fight Neil Magny in August but was forced to withdraw for health reasons. This weekend, he will be in his first main event and first five-round fight in the UFC.

Welterweight rankings are very much at stake in this main event. Who has the edge? ESPN asked several experts for their breakdowns and predictions.

The UFC is closing its 2020 schedule with a standout Fight Night card on Saturday. In the main event, former welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson will take on the rising Geoff Neal.
